How to Apply Perlite Plaster?
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Perlite plaster is a lightweight type of plaster that provides thermal and sound insulation. When applied correctly, it both ensures energy savings and creates a long-lasting surface.
So, how is perlite plaster applied? Here is the step-by-step guide:
1. Surface Preparation
The surface must be prepared before application.
- The surface must be clean (free of dust, oil, and dirt)
- Loose particles must be removed
- Cracks and holes should be repaired
- The surface should be lightly moistened
The use of a primer is recommended for surfaces such as exposed concrete.
2. Mortar Preparation
Perlite plaster is prepared by mixing it with water.
Average mixture:

1 bag of plaster

9 – 12 liters of water

Mix with a low-speed mixer

Mix for 5 minutes – Let it rest for 2-3 minutes – Mix again

A homogeneous consistency must be achieved.
3. Application
The prepared mortar is applied to the surface.
Application methods:

Machine spraying

Manual application with a trowel

It is spread evenly on the surface

It is leveled with a gauge (screed bar)
4. Application Thickness
- In a single coat: 10 – 30 mm
- A second coat can be applied if necessary
