Acoustik Perlite
What is Acoustic Perlite?
Acoustic perlite is a type of perlite used in construction and acoustic systems to provide sound insulation and sound absorption. Perlite is a natural volcanic glass rock; when expanded at high temperatures it becomes lightweight and porous, offering both thermal and acoustic insulation properties.
Key Properties
- Sound insulation and absorption: Its porous structure absorbs sound waves and provides sound insulation, especially effective at high frequencies.
- Lightweight: Expanded perlite has very low density, which reduces the weight of walls, screeds, and concrete toppings, lowering structural loads.
- Fire and thermal insulation: It is a natural, inorganic material, non‑combustible and highly heat resistant; it also provides good thermal insulation.
- Environmentally friendly and durable: It is chemical and biologically stable, does not rot or attract pests, and is non‑toxic.
Usage Areas
- Used in acoustic panels, wall and ceiling finishes, perlite‑containing screeds, and insulation plasters.
- Frequently applied in spaces where acoustic comfort is important, such as schools, concert halls, studios, office buildings, and hotels, to improve sound absorption and noise control.
